چکیده

The present work investigated how the combination of poultry oil with microalgae oils, rich in eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic (ED diets) or n-6 docosapentaenoic n-3 (DD modulates hepatic lipid metabolism gilthead sea bream juveniles. Diets were tested using two different fishmeal contents (15% 7.5%) compared against a fish oil-based diet (CTRL) negative control diets based on as source (PO diets). After 74 days feeding, fed 15% FM ED DD showed similar daily growth index to those CTRL, while PO caused reduced growth. Fish livers reflected highest long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids when diets, which down-regulated fas, scd-1a, fads2, lpl cpt1, reducing accumulation hepatocytes size. In contrast, lowest deposition oleic liver, leading hepatosomatic due increased liver lipids. Therefore, these revealed severe steatosis associated an expression lipogenesis-related genes, particularly sbrep1. Furthermore, seemed activate desaturation pathways livers, by that are products from desaturases fads2 scd-1a expressions. reduction dietary content 7.5% lowered growth, although be more affected FO replacement than replacement. Combining could alternative essential marine diets.

‘Molecular characterization of a gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) muscle

Understanding the control of piscine fatty acid metabolism is important for determining the nutritional requirements of fish, and hence for the production of optimal aquaculture diets. The regulation and expression of carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT1; EC No 2.3.1.21) are critical processes in the control fatty acid metabolism, and here we report a cDNA from gilthead sea bream (Sparus aura...

Metabolic Effects of Insulin and IGFs on Gilthead Sea Bream (Sparus aurata) Muscle Cells

Primary cultures of gilthead sea bream myocytes were performed in order to examine the relative metabolic function of insulin compared with IGF-I and IGF-II (insulin-like growth factors, IGFs) at different stages in the cell culture. In these cells, the in vitro effects of insulin and IGFs on 2-deoxyglucose (2-DG) and l-alanine uptake were studied in both myocytes (day 4) and small myotubes (da...

Hormonal mechanisms regulating hepatic vitellogenin synthesis in the gilthead sea bream, Sparus aurata.

Experiments were carried out to study in vitro the effects of 17beta-estradiol (E(2)), homologous pituitary homogenate (HPH), and recombinant red sea bream growth hormone (sbGH) on vitellogenin (VTG) secretion from cultured sea bream liver fragments. Basal secretion of VTG was found to be significantly higher in the prespawning period, compared with sea bream liver in the spawning and postspawn...

Evaluation of the Possible Transmission of BSE and Scrapie to Gilthead Sea Bream (Sparus aurata)

In transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), a group of fatal neurodegenerative disorders affecting many species, the key event in disease pathogenesis is the accumulation of an abnormal conformational isoform (PrP(Sc)) of the host-encoded cellular prion protein (PrP(C)). While the precise mechanism of the PrP(C) to PrP(Sc) conversion is not understood, it is clear that host PrP(C) expr...
